For larger areas of study or assignments such as Science, Social Studies, Novel Study and Writing, coloured Study Guides are provided to students to keep in their binders.  These guides show lessons, assignments, tests, due dates and instructions for completing ongoing work.  Work should be signed off by the teacher when it is complete.  Parents can also use Study Guides as a tool to help their son or daughter remain organized and efficient in his or her studies.

For each reading selection, you must prepare 2 factual and 1 interpretive questions based on your own ideas and reflections.  You must record your answers to these questions including a minimum 100 word paragraph response to your interpretive question.  Remember this response must reflect your opinion; however, you must back yourself up with evidence including 3 specific page references.

Practice proper paragraph form with your written response by including both a topic and concluding sentence in your writing.

A literature seminar group will be held to discuss the book and share each others responses.  A brief 5 mark quiz will be given each lesson to assess the level of comprehension of the previous assigned reading.

Important themes and quotations will also be highlighted in the lessons by the teacher.  These ideas will also be part of the final language test at the end of the cycle.
